My Doodle Rock name is Voltaire, but I much prefer George. I’m a one-year-old male poodle mix weighing in at about 48 pounds, and I like to think I’m the perfect combination of sweet snuggle buddy and playful rascal. With my family, I’m gentle, affectionate, and very agreeable. My favorite place in the world is tucked into someone’s arms where I can melt into a hug and soak up all the love.
I do have a feisty side, especially when it’s time to play with my big brother. Tug-of-war and wrestling are some of my specialties, and I’m always up for a good game of chase. Like many young dogs, I’m still in my puppy phase, which means I’ve developed a bit of a reputation for “remodeling” stuffed animals, blankets, and bedding. You might call it chewing… I call it creative expression. The good news is that I’m learning, and I’ve already made great progress. My new indestructible chew toys help keep me busy and satisfy that urge to chew.
I’m a unique fellow because I only have one eye and my vision in it is a little blurry. But honestly, it doesn’t slow me down one bit. Most people don’t even realize I have limited vision when they meet me. Having a steady routine really helps me feel confident and secure. My day starts bright and early with breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by outdoor playtime. I head outside at least three times a day—morning, midday, and evening—but I usually squeeze in a couple of extra play sessions too. I also enjoy going for walks a few times a week, and while I tend to walk at a pretty speedy pace, I’m more than happy to slow down for my person.
Even though I love being close to my people, I’m still getting used to little love pats and sometimes they surprise me. I’m learning that those gentle touches mean I’m safe and loved, and every day I grow a little more confident. In the evenings, I have dinner at 5 p.m., one last potty break around 7:45, and then it’s off to bed at 8. I’m proud to say I’m an excellent sleeper. I also take a daily eye supplement called Ocu-Glo to keep my good eye as healthy as possible.
At the end of the day, I’m a sweet, playful boy who loves routine, cuddles, and a little bit of adventure. With patience, love, and a few sturdy chew toys, I’ll be the most loyal and affectionate companion you could ask for. My name may be George, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be the king of your heart.
