Hi, I’m Vela. I’m a 2-3 year old doodle mix girl, about 40 pounds, and I’m as sweet as they come. I love to cuddle, especially with my foster mom, and once I trust you, I’ll happily soak up all the pets you’re willing to give. I can be shy with new people and men at first, but trust is something I build with time, patience, and kindness. I’m getting braver every day and I really enjoy being loved on.

I have a playful, curious side that comes out when I feel comfortable. I love running around the yard, hopping through the garden to look for rabbits, and chasing balls even though I’m still figuring out what to do once I catch them. Stuffed toys are one of my favorite things, especially when I can pull all the fluff out. I’m smart, food motivated, and eager to learn, especially if treats are involved. My foster mom says I have good manners most of the time, though I won’t lie, if something smells amazing on the counter, I might investigate.

Mornings don’t officially start for me until my foster mom comes downstairs to let me out. I’m a little clingy in that way and I like knowing my people are close. I dance in happy circles at mealtime and work very hard to sit still until I’m told it’s okay to eat. During the day, I enjoy playing with my foster dog sibling and I’ve even learned how to peacefully coexist with a cat. When my foster parents are working, I’m calm and quiet, often relaxing nearby or hanging out in my open crate, which I lovingly consider my girl cave.

I’m good in the car and enjoy looking out the windows, and I love going on walks while I continue practicing my leash manners. Dinner time is very important to me and I’m always ready right on schedule. I’m a fan of healthy people food snacks like carrots, eggs, and stuffed Kongs. At night, I sleep in my foster parents’ room in my crate with the door open, and sometimes, if I’m invited, I’ll sneak onto the bed in the morning for a little extra love.

I’m still learning and growing. I’m working on feeling more confident around new people, improving my leash skills, and keeping all four paws on the floor when I get excited. With the right home and continued guidance, I know I’ll keep blossoming into the best girl I can be.

• Another dog sibling for play and companionship who enjoys running and wrestling
• No children under age six due to jumping
• Active family
• Fenced yard
• Flexible schedule
• Patience and commitment to continued training
