Hi, my name is Trisha, but my foster family calls me Wonks. I am a 3 year old female poodle mix and I weigh 54 pounds. I was found as a stray, and now I’m being spoiled by my foster family and my three fur siblings.

I am a big, beautiful lover girl with the sweetest heart. My foster family calls me Wonks because I can be a little clumsy with my legs, but they will also tell you I am the best girl. I love lounging on the couch as long as I can keep you within eyesight. I bond deeply with my people and will do best in a home where I can be with them most of the time. I love belly rubs, leg massages, being close to you, and giving kisses. I can be a little shy at first, but I warm up with patience and love.

When I get excited to see my humans, my personality really shines and I may even let out long, happy howls. When I play, I can be a bit of a clumsy bulldozer. I enjoy slow, short walks, chewing on my bones, and having a calm, consistent routine since loud noises can startle me. I also feel more confident with other dogs around and often look to them for guidance and reassurance.

Because of my physical limitations, I cannot safely do stairs or jump in and out of cars or on and off high furniture, so I will need help with those things.

I start my mornings slowly and love sleeping in bed with my humans since it helps my body feel comfortable. After I go outside, I get very excited for breakfast with my joint supplements. I prefer to eat in peace without being disturbed. My days are filled with lounging, bones, yard zoomies, and staying close to my people. I walk nicely on a leash, and in the evening I will remind you if dinner is late before settling in for the night.

I have some differences in my legs, including my knees and front limbs, which means my body moves a little differently and needs extra support to stay comfortable. I have a condition called severe bilateral patellar luxation, which means my kneecaps stay out of place in both of my back legs. Because of this, my legs have some abnormal alignment and I’ve developed arthritis. I also have some weakness in my front legs (called carpal laxity), which makes me stand a bit flat-footed. Even with all of that, I’ve learned to adapt and still live a happy, active life. I don’t let any of this slow me down, I still love to run, play, and enjoy every single day.

To help me feel my best, I will need lifelong support including a prescription joint diet, daily supplements, medications, routine vet care, and wearing braces on my front legs. Staying at a healthy weight is very important for my mobility and comfort. My future family will need to be committed to my care and understand my needs, but in return you will get the most loyal, loving girl who just wants to be by your side.

I am still learning my manners. I can get a little mouthy when I am excited or taking treats, and I am working on sharing toys and building confidence. Since I can be a bit unaware of my size and still learning boundaries, I would do best in a home with children over 12. I also feel more confident with other dogs around and really rely on them for guidance and reassurance. Because of this, I would do best in a home with a confident dog sibling.

All I need is a patient, loving home that understands my needs and will love me just the way I am.
