Trisha‘s Story
Hi there! My name is Trisha, but my foster family calls me Tessa, and I am a certified love bug through and through. I’m a 1–2-year-old poodle mix weighing about 45 pounds, and my favorite thing in the world is being close to my people. I can be a little shy when I first meet someone, but once I feel safe, my playful, affectionate personality shines right through. I’m equal parts cuddle buddy and happy-go-lucky goof.
I love starting my mornings with a little outdoor time, especially if there’s a tennis ball involved. Kongs, rope toys, and treats are some of my greatest joys, and I’m very motivated to learn when snacks are involved. I know how to sit politely for treats, meals, and leash time, and I walk beautifully on leash for neighborhood strolls. Loud noises or very large dogs can make me pause, but with reassurance, I settle back in just fine.
During the day, I’m pretty chill and content hanging around the house with my foster siblings. I enjoy short walks, playtime in the yard, and then long stretches of relaxing nearby. I’m what you might call a Velcro dog. If you’re on the couch, I want to be right there with you. If you’re working from home, I’ll happily nap close by. In the evenings, cuddles are non-negotiable. I love being loved on and soaking up attention from my people.
I’m fully crate trained and do great sleeping in my crate at night or hanging out there when you run errands, but I’d also be perfectly happy snoozing next to your bed. I’m potty trained and do best when I’m let out on a consistent schedule, which I handle like a pro. I may bark a bit when someone arrives at the front door, but I settle once I see everything is okay.
I live with dogs of all sizes right now and get along well with calm, friendly pups, though I truly prefer my humans most of all. I’d thrive in a calm household with a flexible schedule, ideally with another dog sibling and a fenced yard where I can safely play and relax. I’m best suited for a home without young children since I don’t always realize how big I am and do best in a quieter environment. Patience, consistency, and lots of love help me be my very best self.
