Hi! I’m Roo — a tall, fluffy, wiggly poodle mix girl about a year old and 45 pounds of curiosity, affection, and long-legged energy. I don’t shed, I love being close to my people, and even though I was found as a stray, I’m learning the ropes of house life pretty quickly.
Every morning, I burst out of my crate, zip outside, and then come in ready for breakfast and a good play session with my foster dog sibling. I love fetch, exploring the yard, and getting my zoomies out, and once I do, I’m all snuggles and softness.
During the week, I spend a few days in my crate while my foster mom goes to the office, and I handle that routine really well. When she gets home, I’m ready for another round of fun or a nice long walk before settling in for the evening by her side.
I am still a puppy, so I’m learning my manners as I go. I’m tall enough to see what’s on the counters without even trying, and sometimes I can’t resist checking. I’ve also figured out how to open the trash drawer — I swear it calls my name — and I’m practicing keeping my paws on the floor, walking politely on leash, and remembering not to nibble things that aren’t toys. When I get excited, like when it’s time to go outside or head out for a walk, I can get jumpy and a little mouthy. Even if you turn away, I might keep bouncing because I just haven’t learned how to settle my excitement yet. I’ve never been aggressive and I adore kids, but because I can knock little ones down with my enthusiasm, I’d do best in a home with older kids who can handle my big happy energy.
I’m still learning about the world, and sometimes it seems like no one taught me the basics before I was found. Squirrels really flip my switch — I just lose my mind when I see them — so I’ll need someone experienced who can keep working with me on focus and calm walking. I love other dogs, but cats and I definitely don’t get along. I make a great watchdog and will always let you know when someone’s near the yard or door. Inside the house, I’m gentle and patient, letting my foster’s grandkids hug me, lead me around, and love on me as much as they want.
What I want most is a family who’s patient, consistent, and ready for an affectionate, energetic, up-for-anything companion who’s still learning but has a whole lot of heart. I’m sweet, I’m eager to please, and I’m trying so hard to grow into the best girl I can be.
If you’re looking for a loyal, bright, goofy adventure buddy who will adore you endlessly, I’d love to be your girl.
