Hi, I’m Oakley! I’m a 3-year-old, 45-pound Goldendoodle looking for a forever family to call my own. I’m a loving, active, people-oriented guy with a big heart, and when I choose my humans, I love them with everything I’ve got. I want to be part of whatever you’re doing, and once we’re home for the day, my favorite place is curled up right beside you—or, if you’ll allow it, right on top of you. I may be 45 pounds, but I’m pretty convinced I’m lap-dog sized.

I’m happiest when my days have a nice balance of adventure and downtime. I LOVE being outside, and long walks are one of my favorite ways to spend time with my person. My current routine starts with a 2-mile morning walk where I can stretch my legs, explore the neighborhood, and sniff all the important smells before heading home for breakfast. I’m offered about two cups of food in the morning and two cups at night, although I’m not always in a hurry to eat. I prefer to dine on my own schedule, thank you very much.

After my morning adventure, I’m happy to spend a few hours relaxing, playing with my toys, or hanging out with my human. Around midday, I head outside for a potty break and another chance to investigate the yard before coming back in to escape the Texas heat. Dinner comes later in the day, followed by another 2-mile evening walk. By the time we get home, I’m ready to settle in, get cozy, and call it a night.

Along with being affectionate, I’m a pretty smart guy who enjoys learning. I already know “sit,” “lay down,” and “wait,” and I’m working on adding more skills to my repertoire. “Leave it” is still a work in progress because treats are VERY exciting, and sometimes my enthusiasm gets the best of me. With consistency and patience, though, I’m eager to learn and love making my people proud.

I should probably also mention that I don’t always realize I’m a 45-pound dog. Sometimes my excitement and affection come with my whole body, so smaller kids probably aren’t the best fit for me. I’d do better with older kids who can appreciate my big, lovable personality without getting accidentally bumped over when I forget just how much of me there is to love.

I’m still learning how to play and interact with other dogs, so I’ll need a patient family who’s willing to keep helping me build my confidence. I’m not quite a fetch or dog-park kind of guy just yet. Honestly, I’d much rather stick close to my person, and if you start running, you can bet I’ll happily run right alongside you. Being together is really my favorite activity. I’m making progress every day, though, and with patience, encouragement, and continued practice, I’m excited to keep learning and growing into the best version of myself.

More than anything, I’m looking for a family who wants a dog to truly be part of their everyday life. I’d love someone who will take me on walks, help me keep learning, let me tag along on adventures, and then make room for me on the couch when the day is done. In return, you’ll get a loyal, affectionate companion who will never leave you wondering how much you’re loved.

I’m Oakley, and I’m ready to find the humans I can adventure with, cuddle with, learn with, and love for the rest of my life.
