Hi there! I’m Max, and if you’re looking for a sweet, loyal sidekick who wants nothing more than to be part of the family, I might just be your guy.

I’m 1.5 years old, about 60 pounds, and I have a beautiful red, curly, non-shedding poodle-like coat that’s incredibly soft. My beginning didn’t quite work out the way everyone hoped, but my foster family keeps telling me that the best part of my story is still ahead—and I’m ready to find the family I’ll call mine forever.

I’m a gentle, affectionate boy with a big heart. I’m wonderful with children and get along great with my four-legged foster family. I’d be happy having a doggy sibling, but I could also do beautifully as your one-and-only.

I’m 100% potty trained, walk nicely on leash, and I’m working on remembering that I don’t need to cross the street every time I see another dog I’d like to meet. I’m smart and learn quickly! Occasionally, if I think you’ve forgotten to give me enough attention, I might investigate the trash or borrow a sock or baseball cap. I’m still a young guy, after all, and sometimes a little mischief is the best way to remind you I’m here.

My favorite days are spent with my people. I start my morning with a potty break, then patiently sit and wait for breakfast like the good boy I am. After that, I’m up for just about anything—a walk around the block, playing with a toy, hiking, a trip to the hardware store, hanging out at a dog-friendly brewery, or my personal favorite, a car ride. Wherever you’re going, I’d really like to come too.

A fenced yard would be wonderful because I love having the freedom to wander outside, sniff all the good smells, and explore safely. More than anything, though, I need a family who is home quite a bit. Being left behind is hard for me, and I can get anxious when I realize my people are leaving. I will stay in my crate when you need to run an errand, and I may cry or fuss at first, but I usually settle down pretty quickly.

Someone who works from home would be especially perfect for me. I’m happiest simply being near my people, whether we’re out having an adventure or doing absolutely nothing together.

My foster mom says my potential is endless with the right family. Give me patience, security, plenty of love, and a place by your side, and I’ll give you one very devoted best friend.
