Ibis‘s Story

❤️Ibis is Available❤️

My name is Ibis, and just like the bird, I have long legs and a curious nose! I'm a 48-pound Poodle mix (We think maybe a Sheepadoodle), and I'm just beginning to learn what it means to be a beloved family dog.

I'm still a bit timid and adjusting my new to life. With the help of my patient foster family—especially my foster brother—I'm learning the joys of toys, treats, and human affection. I’m house-trained and crate-trained, and I love relaxing in my crate with my favorite toys. I follow my foster mom around and enjoy her calm presence, though I'm still warming up to my foster dad. I just need a little extra time and love to feel completely safe. Older kids who can be gentle and patient would be best for me!

My daily routine starts early around 6 a.m. with breakfast and a trip outside. I stick close to my foster brother and follow his lead throughout the day. When my foster dad wakes up, I settle in on a mat or dog bed to rest. I spend most of my day relaxing in my crate until dinner, followed by some outside time and play. By 9 p.m., I put myself to bed in my crate. Sometimes I get startled if my foster dad comes home late, which might lead to a little barking, but I’m learning to feel more secure.

I'm still working on feeling confident around new sounds and people, so I’d do best in a calm, quiet home with a fenced backyard. I haven’t gone on walks yet and am just starting leash training. I use the doggy door, follow my foster brother around, and prefer my treats to be placed gently at my feet. Occasionally, I like to explore the house at night, which may include a bit of counter surfing!

I’m still learning basic commands and how to fully trust humans, so I need a patient family who will continue helping me grow into the amazing companion I’m meant to be. I may have a chicken allergy, so I stick to a beef-based diet, which keeps my skin happy and itch-free.
