Hi, I’m Garth, though my foster family calls me Ralphy. I’m a 3-year-old, 44-pound guy who’s still learning about the world, but I already know what makes me feel safe, calm, and happy. I’m gentle by nature, a little sensitive, and I do best when life moves at a steady, predictable pace.
My bed is my absolute sanctuary. It’s soft, cozy, and completely mine, and I take my relaxation very seriously. My Lamby and chew stick are also top-tier treasures, so I appreciate having my own space where I can unwind without interruptions. Meal times are a big deal to me. Breakfast and dinner are the highlights of my day, and I will politely remind you if the schedule slips. Consistency makes me feel secure.
When I meet new people, I can be shy at first. I don’t rush introductions, but if you kneel down and rub my face or ears, I soften almost instantly. That’s how I know I can trust you. Once I’m comfortable, I love being outside where I can stretch my legs and run. If you play a gentle game of chase with me in the yard, I’ll be fully convinced you’re the most fun person I’ve ever met.
I start my mornings early, usually around 6:30 a.m. I like to hover by the door, keeping an eye on what’s happening, even if I need a minute to gather my confidence before stepping out. I’m fully house trained and very proud of that, though I do have a funny preference for concrete over grass while I’m still figuring things out.
During the workday, I’m settled and content while you’re away, especially when I know you’ll be back. When you return home, I’m happy to see you and ready for another calm outdoor break. Dinner happens around 6:30 p.m., which I consider a very important event, followed by quiet downtime as I wind down for the evening.
I’m still learning leash skills. Sometimes I freeze and need reassurance, and other times I remember how exciting all the smells are. Occasionally I get a burst of bravery and might try to bolt, so a properly fitted harness and a secure, fenced yard are really important for me. I used to sleep in a crate, but once I discovered my big cozy bed, I realized that was my happy place, and I’ve been doing wonderfully with that setup.
I thrive in a calm home with patient people who understand that I’m still building confidence. I would love a dog sibling to help show me the ropes and keep me company, and I do best in a home without young children where things stay peaceful and predictable. Apartments aren’t my style, but a house with a fenced yard and humans who have some flexibility in their schedule would be just right.
If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive companion who will reward your patience with loyalty and quiet affection, I might be the perfect fit.
