Hi, I’m Dumpling! I’m a 3-year-old, 13-pound poodle mix with soft, wavy fur, a playful personality, and a serious love for snuggling. I also have an adorable little underbite that makes me look permanently grumpy, earning me the nickname “Grumps.” Don’t let my face fool you, though—I’m a happy, affectionate guy whose tail is usually wagging!

I love my people and prefer to be close. When I decide I haven’t received enough attention, I’ll slowly inch closer and closer before giving you a gentle paw as a reminder that pets are required. I’m also a big fan of toys and have been known to carry an entire armful into the living room when I’m ready to play. I’m completely potty trained, know sit and stay, walk well on a leash, and don’t shed. I’m happy relaxing around the house, playing in the yard, or heading out for a daily walk.

I love other dogs and would be happy with canine siblings, but I’d also do well as your one and only. I enjoy people, too! Because I can startle when abruptly woken from a deep sleep, any children in my forever home need to be at least 6 years old and understand how to give a sleeping dog his space. This has already been improving as I’ve decompressed and learned that I’m safe.

I had a pretty rough start before coming into rescue and was found with more than three pounds of debris matted into my fur. My first grooming experience was understandably scary, so grooming still makes me nervous. I’ll need a patient family willing to work with me and give me prescribed medication before grooming appointments so the experience can be as stress-free as possible.

My ideal home has no apartments or shared walls and includes a securely fenced yard where I can run and play. I have moderate energy and need daily exercise, along with plenty of appropriate chew toys to keep my busy little brain occupied. I can use a crate, but I’m much happier sleeping at the foot of your bed and can become anxious if crated overnight.

I’m looking for a family that will give me patience, consistency, exercise, and lots of love. In return, I promise to bring plenty of toys, plenty of laughs, and my very best “Grumps” face to your home.

- Ability to provide moderate daily exercise
- Patience for training
