Howdy, future family! My name’s Dixie, and I’m a 2-year-old, 31-pound terrier mix with a whole lot of love, smarts, and Southern sass packed into this little body.

Don’t let my size fool you — I am mighty. I’ve got a huge zest for life, a playful spirit, and the fastest tail wag in the South. I live for belly rubs and will happily flop over any time you’re willing. I’ve also got natural herding instincts, so I like to keep my people close — and I’m learning every day how to channel all that enthusiasm in more polite, loving ways.

I’m also quite the helper around the house (sometimes too helpful!). I may try to assist with laundry before it’s actually laundry day or get excited when my foster mom comes home — but I’m improving every day. I’m clever, eager, and full of heart, which makes training both fun and rewarding for me.

Because I’m smart, energetic, and very tuned in to my people, I thrive in a home that provides calm, confident leadership. When I know what’s expected of me, I settle beautifully and become my best self. I’m not looking to take charge — I’m looking for someone who enjoys teaching, guiding, and helping me understand the world around me. With consistency and structure, I shine.

I’d also be AMAZING at agility, trick training, or any activity that lets me show off my quick feet and even quicker brain. Enrichment toys, chew puzzles, and anything that gets me thinking are some of my favorite things. Once I finish my heartworm treatment, I’ll also benefit from long walks, adventures, and plenty of structured activity to keep me happy and balanced.

A secure yard is important for me since I’m naturally curious and love to explore. A solid fence helps keep my adventures safe.
