Chuck‘s Story

❤️Chuck is Available❤️ Please READ the bio and adoption requirements first to make sure you are a perfect fit BEFORE APPLYING.

My name is Chuck, and I am a 14-week-old male doodle mix, probably part Australian Shepherd, weighing in at a mighty 10 pounds. My foster mom also calls me Squishy Bitey Face, which is both a term of endearment and an honest summary of where I am in life right now.

I am confident, goofy, incredibly smart, and seriously busy, though I may take a minute or two to warm up when I first meet someone new. Do not let the fluffy stuffed-animal look fool you, because I would much rather play tug, chase a ball, learn something new, or investigate whatever is moving nearby than sit still for cuddles. I have tons of toy drive and love working for treats, and my foster mom thinks I could be a fantastic partner for agility, flyball, trick training, hiking, or just about any activity that gives my brain and body a job to do. I love other dogs and often seek out my very patient foster brother before I even say hello to the humans, although my play style is enthusiastic and can get a little rough. My herding instincts are strong and very much alive, including the urge to chase movement and grab pants and feet, so I need someone who understands that these things are meant to be trained and channeled, not just waited out.

My day starts around 6:00 in the morning with a potty trip and breakfast, followed by play until I suddenly remember I am still a baby and crash hard for a nap. I usually resurface around 10:00 ready to do it all again, cycling through play, exploration, short training sessions, potty breaks, and more naps throughout the day. I eat three meals a day, with lunch somewhere between 1:00 and 3:00 and dinner around 7:00 or 8:00. Most evenings around 8:00 or 9:00 I get one last burst of serious energy, which is a great time for a tug session, some fetch, or a training adventure before I settle in for the night.

Potty training is still in progress, but I already sleep through the night in my crate until around 6:00 a.m. and will even go back to sleep afterward on weekends. Crate training is coming along too, and I am comfortable in there when I can see my people or my dog friends. I know sit, I have a pretty solid recall for my age especially when treats are involved, and I am starting to understand stay. Like any smart and energetic puppy I chew, jump, nip, and will happily investigate your shoes, so I need active supervision whenever I am awake and out of my kennel, though I redirect easily to a toy or training game.
