Please READ the bio and adoption requirements first to make sure you are a perfect fit BEFORE APPLYING.

Hi. I’m Chicago. I am about 6 months old and 27 pounds of curly doodle energy and heart. I may be young, but I have already learned that the world can feel a little overwhelming sometimes. Because of that, I can be anxious when I first meet new people. I might get so excited and unsure that I nibble on your clothes or even have a tiny excited pee. I promise I am not trying to be naughty. I am just figuring out that humans are safe and love is real.

Once I know you, I want to be as close to you as possible. Your lap, your feet, right beside your chair while you work. That is my happy place. I am not the biggest fan of my crate yet. I sleep there and eat there, and I do not potty in it, but I would much rather be near my person. I am learning that my crate can be a calm and cozy space, especially when treats are involved. If you are patient with me, I will keep getting braver every day.

Mornings are my favorite. The second you open my crate, I burst out with excitement. I might jump. I might grab your sleeve in pure joy. Then we head outside for potty time and a little play before breakfast. I eat quickly and sometimes make a bit of a mess, but do not worry. I am happy to clean up my crumbs. I just like knowing you are nearby while I eat.

I love toys. Squeaky toys are my specialty. I will squeak them proudly over and over like I just won a championship. Puzzles are even better. I am very smart and can finish a treat puzzle in under a minute. My foster brother does not stand a chance. I would thrive with an active family who will play with me, challenge my brain, and keep me moving. I have energy to burn and so much love to give.

I am still working on my manners. I am learning not to jump, not to use my mouth when I am excited, and to feel confident without getting overwhelmed. Because I am still practicing, I would do best in a home without little kids under 6. I need people who understand that I am a work in progress and are willing to teach me calmly and consistently. A flexible schedule would help me feel secure while I build confidence and routine.

If you are patient with my anxiety, I will lean into you with my whole body. I will look at you with soft eyes. I will choose you as my safe place. I may have had a shaky start, but I am ready for a family who sees my potential and helps me grow into the confident, joyful girl I am meant to be.
