Hi, I’m Carson, but my foster mom also calls me Moose. I’m a sweet, soulful 3-year-old, 52 lb boy with gentle eyes and so much love to give. I may be blind in one eye, but that does not stop me from enjoying life — especially when treats, cuddles, and kind people are involved.

I can be a little shy when I first meet new people, but once I know I’m safe, my loving personality comes pouring out. I absolutely love to cuddle, and one of my favorite things in the whole world is laying my head in your lap and falling asleep. I am very gentle, sweet, and affectionate, and I’m especially wonderful with kids ages 8 and up. I also do well with other dogs and have a submissive, easygoing nature. And if you have treats? You will definitely win me over, because I love, love, love treats.

I start my day with my first potty break around 6:30 a.m., and my last potty break is usually between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. My foster mom takes me outside every couple of hours, and I’m doing well with that routine. Right now, I enjoy shorter walks, and as I build confidence, I’m working up to longer ones. I like a calm, predictable schedule because it helps me feel safe and comfortable. Once I settle in, I’m happiest just being near my people.

I’m still building confidence in new situations and with new people, so I do best with a patient family who will let me warm up at my own pace. Loud noises, sudden movements, and being startled can make me nervous, so I would do best in a calmer home — especially one with older kids rather than very young children. Because I’m blind in one eye, I can be a little unsure of things around me, and I’m not a fan of stairs right now. I can get a little anxious during storms but with some reassuring words and head rubs from my foster mom, everything is better.

What helps me most is gentle reassurance, a peaceful environment, and lots of encouragement. With patience, love, and plenty of treats, I continue to come out of my shell more every day.
