Hi, I’m Briar. I’m a 4-year-old Sheepdoodle, about 65 pounds, and I’ve got a pretty solid handle on the basics of being a dog. I’m neutered, vaccinated, potty trained, and I know how to use a dog door. I’m still learning the rest as I go—progress over perfection is kind of my motto.

I take my job as Outside Situation Monitor very seriously. If something is happening beyond the fence, I believe you deserve to know about it, promptly and clearly. Some people call it barking; I call it being thorough. With guidance and consistency, I’m learning when it’s necessary and when it’s not.

I’m extremely food motivated, which makes training fun and effective, but it also means I may investigate countertops if I suspect snacks are involved. Clear boundaries and management help me succeed here. I really want to do the right thing, especially when treats are part of the deal.

New people can make me a little unsure at first. I prefer to warm up at my own pace and do best with calm, patient humans who let me take the lead. Once I trust you, I’m steady, loyal, and very invested in my people.

Having another large, confident dog in the home is important for me. I learn best by watching a dog who already knows how the world works, and I take comfort in having a canine guide. I thrive with structure, routine, and clear expectations, and a dog buddy helps everything click.

I’m comfortable going in and out of my crate, I love my meals, I come when called, and I do best when life is predictable. A yard is a must for me so I have space to move, play, and decompress. One thing to know about me is that I sometimes explore the world with my mouth and may try to eat things that aren’t food, like socks or small toys. Supervision, enrichment, and smart management keep me safe and successful.

If you’re patient, consistent, dog-savvy, and already have a friendly big dog who wouldn’t mind showing me the ropes, I could be a great match. I’m still learning how to be a dog, but I’m trying every day—and I’m getting there.
