We are unable to adopt outside of 1,000 miles of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. We require a thorough home visit as part of our application process and we also need our dogs close enough to transport back to us, should an emergency ever arise. Given that we are volunteer-run and donation-funded, this radius is what is manageable for us and best for the well-being of our dogs. Please check your local rescues and shelters – there are thousands of poodle mixes all over the country in need of loving homes. Thank you for understanding!
Have Questions? We've Got Answers!
The most common questions are answered below. Please review our FAQs before contacting us.
Still have questions after reading the FAQ?
I live outside of the 1,000mi DFW radius. Can I still adopt?
Is (dog name) available?
Dogs in our Foster Program are listed on the Upcoming Dogs page and not yet available for adoption. Once available, they will be moved to the Available Dogs page and we’ll begin accepting applications. If we have enough applications for a particular dog, we’ll remove his/her name from the Adoption Application drop-down. Once the adoption process is complete, he/she will be moved to the Alumni page. Please check these pages for availability questions.
When will (dog name) be available?
We do not have predetermined dates for when a dog will be available for adoption. Every dog in our Foster Program has medical and behavioral goals they must meet before they are approved for adoption. Once approved, they will be listed on the available dogs page and we’ll begin accepting applications.
Will you notify me when a dog becomes available for adoption?
Please check the Available Dogs page on our website. Also, follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be notified when a dog becomes available. We are unable to notify you individually.
Can I apply for an upcoming dog?
No, we only accept applications for dogs that are available for adoption. This allows our potential adopters to understand the dog’s needs before applying.
How much is your adoption fee?
Our adoption fee ranges from $150 – $750 depending on age, size, and breed. The adoption fee includes grooming, vaccinations, sterilization, and microchipping. Depending on the dog’s incoming condition, many will also receive advanced medical care and professional behavior modification. Exact fee is shared with the selected applicant.
Why is an available dog not an option on the Adoption Application?
If the Adoption Team has enough applications for a dog, they will close new application submissions. This allows our volunteer team a chance to thoroughly review all for fit. Once the screening process is complete, and the dog is placed, that dog will be moved to the Alumni page.
Why did an upcoming dog never become available for adoption?
In certain circumstances, dogs find their forever home prior to becoming “available.” If a foster has fostered 3 or more times, they do have the option to apply to adopt their foster dog. Many other situations come up, such as finding the original owners of a lost dog. Our #1 goal is to find the perfect forever home for each dog and sometimes that happens unexpectedly as every situation is different.
Will I be notified if my Adoption Application isn’t selected?
Yes, everyone will receive an automatic response via email if not selected after the dog is placed. You can also check the dog’s status on our website. Due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to personalize each response. Please allow 2-3 weeks.
I have small children. I live in an apartment. Will I be selected?
Every dog is different, so what we are seeking in a forever home varies each time. Your application will not be rejected because of young children and/or living in an apartment, however, it may not be the right environment for every dog. Please read the adoption bio in detail before applying.
Why was I not selected to adopt?
Please read our minimum adoption requirements and thoroughly read the dog’s adoption bio to ensure your home/family meets the outlined requirements before you apply. We also often receive an overwhelming number of applications. It is up to our Adoption Teamʼs discretion to find the perfect fit. It may not mean something was “wrong” with your application, but that we found an absolute perfect fit for that dog’s needs with another family. Thank you for your interest in our rescue doodles, and we appreciate your continued patience and support!
How do you make adoption decisions?
In addition to our minimum adoption requirements, the dog’s needs drive our selection process. We work very closely with our foster families and vets to fully understand each dog’s unique medical and behavioral needs. For example, work from home due to severe separation anxiety, no small children because the dog jumps/has too much energy, etc. These requirements are outlined in the adoption bio and no exceptions are made. That being said, some of our dogs do see application numbers in the hundreds. In these cases, there are often many qualified applicants, but it is up to the discretion of our Adoption Team who knows the dog best to make the best decision.
Can I meet one of your dogs?
Our dogs are in private foster homes, not a shelter facility. If your adoption application is selected, we will arrange a time for you to meet the dog you have applied for.
Can I adopt a dog I foster?
Fosters can apply to adopt their third foster dog (and beyond), however, are required to go through our standard adoption screening process. Some dogs are foster-to-adopt options, and this is made clear when we are seeking a foster. If your foster is an option to foster-to-adopt, you must be screened and approved by our Adoption Team. CLICK HERE for more details on our foster-to-adopt policy.
What if the dog I adopt doesn't end up being a good fit?
Once the dog is placed, the first 2 weeks are considered the trial period. If for any reason the dog is not a fit for your family, we will fully refund your adoption fee and that dog goes back into our Foster Program. No refunds are accepted after 2 weeks.
