Oakmont‘s Story

❤️Oakmont is Available❤️

Please READ the bio and adoption requirements first to make sure you are a perfect fit BEFORE APPLYING.

Hi, my name is Oakmont, but you can call me Monty—that’s what my friends say, and I’d love to be your friend, too. I’m a 5-month-old doodle mix with a soft, wavy coat and even softer heart. I weigh about 23 pounds, and while I might be small, I carry a whole world of feelings inside this fuzzy little body.

I’m what you might call a tender soul. Loud noises, sudden movements, or busy, bustling spaces can make me want to curl up and disappear. I thrive in calm, gentle environments where I can take my time to feel safe. I get along well with other dogs (they help me feel a little braver), but I don’t need a canine companion to be content—I’d be just as happy being your one-and-only snuggle buddy.

What I need most is a female-led home. I feel most at ease around women and can really blossom in their quiet, nurturing presence. I’m wary of men and tend to keep my distance, especially if they’re loud or move too quickly. While I might be able to coexist with a very calm, patient male, I’m really hoping for a household without men—that’s where I’ll feel the safest and most understood. I’m not aggressive, just nervous, and I might bark if I’m unsure, especially if I feel like I need to protect the person I’ve bonded with.

My days are slow and cozy, just how I like them. Mornings are for stretching, sniffing the breeze, and heading outside right after I wake up. I’m crate trained and actually enjoy eating my meals there—it feels safe. Food is one of my very favorite things, and it’s a great way to my heart. I’m doing well with potty training, especially if we stick to a routine. Just know that when I’m in a new place, I get a little nervous and might wait a while before I feel comfortable enough to go.

Right now, I’m still learning to be brave. New places, unfamiliar people—those are big challenges for me. When I first meet you, I might need time and quiet to settle in. But once I feel safe, I’ll scoot in close, rest my head on your leg, and melt into the quiet comfort of being near you. I haven’t gone on walks yet, but I’m open to learning slowly. I do shed a little, in case that matters to you, especially if your wardrobe is full of dark colors.

If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will love you deeply once he learns you’re safe, I just might be your Monty. I’m not perfect, but I’m trying—and every day, I’m getting a little bit braver.
