Please READ the bio and adoption requirements first to make sure you are a perfect fit BEFORE APPLYING.

Hi, I'm Rio! I got my name because I was found as a stray in the Rio Grande Valley (though I'm a Duran Duran fan, too). I'm a goofy girl who is likely a full-sized labradoodle, with an oversized heart. No one loves as big as I do! I love everyone I've ever met. I was a fan favorite at a recent DRR Meet & Greet and even made an appearance on Good Morning Texas, so I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual. That makes me a STAR!

I'm estimated to be around two years old, but there's no mistaking I'm still a puppy. I have all of the fun puppy behaviors but none of the destructive ones. I'm extra happy and playful, with boundless energy! I sometimes forget I'm too big to be held, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with these huge paws and long legs. Oh, and I'm coming into your lap no matter what you say. I just want to be loved!

Though I was found on the streets, I used to be part of a family and I'm really looking forward to having one again. I know simple commands like "no," "down," and "sit." I'm fully house trained and love the dog door at my foster home—but don't worry if you don't have one. I'll go to the back door and will sometimes even ring the potty bells if I'm ready for an outdoor break. I'm a leash pro who loves to walk and I'm great in the car.

My day starts around 7:00 am when I wake up and my foster dad takes me out to the backyard. After a potty break and a short play session, it's inside for breakfast. I spend my day sleeping under my foster mom's desk or on the couch with my bernedoodle foster sister—but with plenty of play breaks for fetch or to chase my foster sister in the backyard. I love toys, balls, and chew bones. I could chew all day, but I'm a good girl who won't chew on things that don't belong to me.

I'll sit in my crate when my foster mom leaves the house, but I don't love it. I might bark a bit at first, but I'm perfectly fine when she returns in an hour or two. I eat dinner around 6:00 pm, followed by a long walk and some evening time loving on (and laying on) each family member. Then it's off to bed around 10:30 pm. I sleep soundly through the night on the bed with my foster parents. In fact, I'm always in the same room with someone from my foster family. I'm not big on "me" time and will happily be your shadow all day long. Did I mention I just want to be loved?

So, if you're looking for a loving, playful, and slightly famous furry friend, I'm your girl! I can't wait to find my forever family and give you all the love in my big, goofy heart.
