Dirk‘s Story

Hi Fwens! I go by Dirk, and I have a fondness for warm hugs. I am a 20lb Male Poodle mix, approximately 9 months old.

Let's start with the basics: my foster family affectionately calls me Teddy, and if you take a good look at me, you'll understand why. If you engage with me, I'll likely join in for some playtime—my absolute favorite. I am a cheerful fellow who hasn't encountered anyone I couldn't charm into giving me head scratches. Oh, did I mention my love for play?

Upon my rescue from the shelter, I had a broken femur, but thanks to CHEW Animal Clinic and my foster parents, I am now fully healed. You wouldn't guess I ever had an injury. I enjoy walks, fetching, and any chew toys within my reach. However, I must confess a disdain for socks—I make it my mission to conquer and "defeat" every sock I find.

I pride myself on being a well-behaved boy, sleeping peacefully through the night, usually nestled in my parents' bed. I rise when they do, around 6 on weekdays and 7 or 8 on weekends. Our bedtime routine typically kicks in around 10 or 11. Ideally, I'd love to embark on two walks a day, but I'm content with some playtime to expend my puppy energy.

There are a few quirks I'm working on, like jumping up in excitement. I'm making strides, responding well to commands like 'off' or 'down.' Additionally, I'm refining my tendencies to bark and playfully nip when overjoyed—playtime just gets me so pumped! My parents keep praising my intelligence and rewarding me with tasty treats, so I believe I'm making progress.
